Flexible, printed laser induced graphene sensor platform for marine monitoring


Biologging has enabled researchers to record in-situ ocean parameters from free-ranging animals, as they swim through their environment. Not only are the incorporated sensors bulky, expensive and highly intrusive, but also highly susceptible to corrosion and biofouling. We present new-generation, multi-functional sensors based on  laser-induced graphene (LIG).  The flexible, lightweight and cost-efficient sensors operate under various bending conditions . The outstanding characteristics of LIG allowed a less-intrusive attachment to the curved surfaces of various marine animals , while monitoring their speed and enviromental conditions.
